About Sharon Singer
Sharon Singer is a ceramic artist, born in Colombia and based in Southern California. Working primarily in handbuilt clay and the Japanese nerikomi technique, which embeds patterns within the clay itself through layers of colored clay, she creates sculptural vessels and objects that examine transformation, her Jewish identity, cultural memory, and overlooked histories.
Her work draws on historical research, observation, and lived experience, using familiar forms to explore what people carry privately across generations and throughout their lives.
Because color and pattern are integral to the clay rather than applied to its surface, material, process, and meaning become inseparable. Her practice bridges contemporary ceramics, craft, and social history, inviting viewers to reconsider stories that often remain unseen.
